Welcome Back for the 2025 - 2026 school year!
Dear LaRue Miller Elementary Families,
Welcome to a brand new school year at LaRue Miller Elementary! Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are so glad to have you as part of our vibrant and growing school community. The beginning of a new year brings fresh opportunities to learn, connect, and grow—and we can’t wait to get started.
We are incredibly proud to share that for the second year in a row, LaRue Miller Elementary has been named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School! This honor reflects our continued commitment to building strong relationships, fostering a safe and respectful school culture, and making every student feel seen, valued, and loved.
One of the ways we live out that mission daily is through our Miller C.H.A.M.P. values:
- Character
- Helpful
- Awesome Attitude
- Mindful
- Perseverance
These core values guide our expectations, our decisions, and our interactions—helping students grow into kind, capable, and resilient individuals.
There is so much to look forward to this year—new learning adventures, meaningful traditions, and a few surprises along the way. As we step into this exciting chapter, I encourage you to stay connected and involved through our website, social media, and school communications. Your partnership and support make all the difference. Together, we will make this year a truly legendary one!
With gratitude,
Katie Bergvall

This is my 4th year serving LME as assistant principal and my 15th year at MISD. I started as a 4th grade teacher at Mt. Peak Elementary, where I've taught various grades and subjects, as well as intervention. I've also served various roles around the district serving general education students needing additional assistance through RTI and 504. Most recently, I've completed additional graduate classes in special education and obtained my educational diagnostician certificate. Truly, my passion is bridging gaps for learners so everyone can reach their full potential and feel successful.
My husband and I have three kids that keep us very busy. On the weekends, we're splitting our time at the baseball fields or the gym watching volleyball. We love traveling near or far, somewhere near water or finding an adventure. However, home is our favorite place to be.
I am looking forward to seeing all our returning Miller families, as well as the new smiling faces at Miller. This is going to be a great year!
